Michinoku Lakeside Park Seseragi Waterway (Warasuko Hiroba)

This is the Seseragi Waterway that runs through Warasuko Hiroba, the children's area of Michinoku Lakeside Park. The water is only about ankle-deep and the bed is paved, so even a child who has just started walking can safely touch the water with an adult lending a hand. The same area has play equipment such as a roller slide, so children can set their own pace: play equipment when they tire of the water, back to the water when they tire of running. There is a restaurant and restrooms inside the park, so meals and changing clothes are less of a worry for families. Admission is 450 yen for adults (15 and over), free for junior high school students and younger, and 210 yen for seniors (65 and over), with a separate parking fee of 400 yen for a regular car. The park is open from 9:30 to 17:00, and you spend the time with Lake Kamafusa (釜房湖) and the Zao Mountains (蔵王連峰) spread out in front of you.

Tips

The operating period has not been announced, and in past years it has run through the summer holidays. Check the park information for the day's status before you go. The park closes at 17:00, so allow time for changing and packing up and finish water play by 16:45. The park is closed on Tuesdays, but opens every day from the third Monday of July through Monday, August 31. Even though the water is shallow, never take your eyes off children and always have an adult with them. Paved surfaces get slippery when wet, so water shoes that protect the feet give peace of mind. The grounds are large and the parking lot is some distance away, so pack your things so they can be carried in one trip.
