About this spot

This is an area inside Michinoku Lakeside Park where traditional houses from across the Tohoku region have been relocated and arranged like a village. You can step up into the thatched-roof houses and see the earthen floors and sunken hearths up close, so old ways of living come across as a space rather than as a photograph. The interiors often stay cool even in summer, making them a good place to rest out of the sun. Since it is inside the park, no extra admission procedure is needed, and you can spend the time before water play here at an easy pace. There is a restaurant nearby, so it is convenient to move straight on to lunch.

国営みちのく杜の湖畔公園の子ども向けエリア、わらすこひろばの中を流れる「せせらぎ水路」です。水深は足首程度で底が舗装されているため、歩き始めたばかりの子でも大人が手を添えれば安心して水にふれられます。同じエリアにローラースライダーなどの遊具がそろっているので、水に飽きたら遊具、走り疲れたらまた水へと自分のペースで遊べます。園内にはレストランとトイレがあり、食事や着替えの心配が少ないのも家族連れにはありがたいところ。入園料は大人(15歳以上)450円、中学生以下無料、シルバー(65歳以上)210円で、別に駐車料が普通車400円かかります。開園は9:30から17:00までで、目の前に釜房湖と蔵王連峰が広がる景色の中で過ごせます。

Tips

開設期間は未発表で、例年は夏休み期間の運用です。出かける前に公園の案内で当日の状況を確認してください。閉園は17:00なので、着替えと片づけの時間を見込んで16:45には水遊びを切り上げてください。火曜は休園ですが、7月の第3月曜から8月31日(月)までは無休です。水深は浅くても目を離さず、大人が必ず付き添ってください。舗装面は濡れると滑りやすいので、足を守れるマリンシューズがあると安心です。園内は広く駐車場から距離があるので、荷物はまとめて運べるようにしておきましょう。

Tips

Admission is 450 yen for adults (15 and over), free for junior high school students and younger, and 210 yen for seniors (65 and over), with a separate parking fee of 400 yen for a regular car. Some houses require you to take off your shoes before stepping up, so shoes that slip on and off easily are more comfortable. The park is closed on Tuesdays, but opens every day from the third Monday of July through Monday, August 31. The grounds are large, so make use of the park map when moving around.
