Miyazaki Science and Technology Museum (宮崎科学技術館)

This hands-on science museum on the east side of JR Miyazaki Station (宮崎駅) is one of the city's signature facilities. A full-scale rocket model stands outside, so children's excitement builds before they even step through the door. The highlight is the large planetarium; the time spent under a dark dome filled with stars is perfect for escaping the summer sun and slowing down. The exhibition rooms are lined with hands-on corners where you can move things yourself to see how they work, and elementary schoolers can easily lose track of time. Spending the morning in a cool indoor space is designed to save energy for the water play in the afternoon.

「大淀川市民緑地せせらぎ水路」は、宮崎市の大淀川市民緑地(鶴島地区)にある、大淀川の伏流水を利用した約400mの水路です。宮崎市が「水遊びができる公園」として公式に案内している場所で、水深は浅く、上流から下流までゆっくり歩きながら遊べるのが特徴です。開設は7月から9月末までの予定で、時間は8:00〜19:00。長い水路なので混み合っても遊ぶ場所を選べ、途中の芝生広場やベンチ9基で大人が腰を下ろして見守れます。市街地にありながら川風が抜け、夕方には涼しさが増していくのも大淀川沿いならではの気持ちよさです。

宮崎市の公式ページに2026年の開設期間の明示はなく、天満橋下駐車場が7月1日から9月30日までのみ利用できることが目安になっています。訪れる前に宮崎市の公園案内で当日の状況を確認しましょう。川沿いのため、大雨の後は増水や濁りに注意してください。水路の底は滑りやすいことがあるので、水遊び用のサンダルがあると安心です。19時まで開いているので、日が傾いてからの時間帯もねらい目です。
