This hands-on science museum on the east side of JR Miyazaki Station (宮崎駅) is one of the city's signature facilities. A full-scale rocket model stands outside, so children's excitement builds before they even step through the door. The highlight is the large planetarium; the time spent under a dark dome filled with stars is perfect for escaping the summer sun and slowing down. The exhibition rooms are lined with hands-on corners where you can move things yourself to see how they work, and elementary schoolers can easily lose track of time.
