The Mukaihara Riverside Green Space Babbling Brook Waterway is a channel set within a green space developed on the banks of the Sakatani River (酒谷川) in Nichinan City. The water is shallow enough for small children to stand on their own feet, which makes it a good choice for a first water-play outing. A wide open lawn area spreads alongside, so you can move freely between water and grass however you like. It is about a 5-minute walk from JR Obi Station (JR飫肥駅), making it easy to plan even for a trip by train.

Tips
Nichinan City advises that use may be suspended depending on weather and other conditions. River levels can rise especially after heavy rain, so always check the city's information and the forecast before you set out. There is little shade, so a pop-up tent or picnic sheet makes breaks much easier. The bottom of the waterway can be slippery, so wear non-slip sandals in the water. It closes at 17:00, so allowing time to change, start wrapping up around 16:30 to stay unhurried.

About 3 hours. Afternoon into evening, once the sun softens, is the most comfortable.
