The Kobayashi General Sports Park Central Plaza Water Play Area is a free water-play spot in Kobayashi City. Water flowing out of the fountain forms a shallow stream, and children can follow the current on foot or dam it with stones; the freedom that comes from having no play equipment is exactly what fires their imagination. It runs from April to November with long hours of 9:30 to 17:30, so you can drop in not only in midsummer but on warm days in spring and autumn, which is this place's real strength. The same plaza has a combination play structure renovated in fiscal 2022 (Reiwa 4) and a 6,480-square-metre lawn, so you can move back and forth between water and playground and stay a long while. With 5 gazebos and vending machines, it suits long family visits.

The water feels cold in spring and autumn, so bringing extra changes of clothes and towels is reassuring. The streambed can be slippery, so step in wearing non-slip sandals. It closes at 17:30, so allowing time to change and starting to wrap up early gives you room to spare.
