Hayamizu Park Seseragi Waterway

About this spot

The Hayamizu Park Seseragi Waterway is a channel and water-play plaza in Hayamizu Park in Miyakonojo City, fed by the spring associated with Kaminaga-hime (髪長媛). It is open from Wednesday, July 1 to Wednesday, September 30, from 9:00 to 17:00, and the water is shallow enough for small children to enter safely. The same park has a children's pool and playground equipment, so when the waterway loses its charm the children can move on to something else and stay happy for hours. With three benches plus a shop and vending machines, adults can sit and watch while picking up drinks. Playing at a place named for a legendary spring is itself a summer memory that only Miyakonojo can give.

Tips

It is closed on Fridays for cleaning. The official Miyakonojo City page mentions only the water-play plaza and does not state the 2026 operating period; these dates come from the 2026 edition of a local parenting information magazine and from postings by the Miyakonojo City Roads and Parks Division, so check that it is running on the day before you go. Children who are not yet out of diapers and pets are not allowed. The bottom of the waterway can be slippery, so wear non-slip sandals. Since it ends at 17:00, starting to wrap up around 16:40 leaves comfortable time to change.
