Hayamizu Shrine (早水神社)

About this spot

This shrine sits in one corner of Hayamizu Park and is tied to the legend of Kaminaga-hime (髪長媛). You can sense how long the spring welling up here has been treasured, which makes it the ideal place to check with your children where the water of the waterway you are about to play in comes from. The grounds are ringed with trees, and even at the height of summer the air turns cool the moment you step in. The walk to the main hall is short, so stopping by right before water play will not drain the children's energy. Hearing the legend first makes that same waterway feel like a far more special place.

「早水公園せせらぎ水路」は、都城市の早水公園にある、髪長媛ゆかりの泉水を水源とする水路と親水広場です。開設は7月1日(水)から9月30日(水)まで、時間は9:00〜17:00で、水深は浅く小さな子でも安心して入れます。同じ園内に児童プールや遊具があり、水路に飽きたら別の遊びへ移れるので、長い時間いても子どもが飽きません。ベンチ3台と売店・自販機があるため、大人は座って見守りながら飲み物を調達できます。伝説の泉水にちなむ場所で遊ぶという体験そのものが、都城ならではの夏の思い出になります。

Tips

金曜は清掃のため利用できません。都城市の公式ページには「親水広場」の記載のみで2026年の稼働期間は明示されておらず、期間は地元の子育て情報誌2026年版と都城市道路公園課の掲載によるものなので、訪れる前に当日の稼働を確認しましょう。おむつが外れていない子どもとペットは利用できません。水路の底は滑りやすいことがあるので、すべりにくいサンダルで入りましょう。17時に終了となるため、着替えの時間を見込んで16時40分ごろには切り上げ始めると余裕があります。

Tips

It is close enough to reach on foot while leaving your car in the park's parking lot. The grounds have gravel and steps, so shoes are safer than water-play sandals. Planning to visit first, then change and head to the waterway, means moving your bags only once.
