Miyazaki Agricultural Science Park Lupinus Park Water Land, in Takanabe Town, Koyu District, is a water-contact facility for getting close to the water that farming depends on. Just as it is officially stated that this is not a swimming facility, it is a place for touching the water, watching it flow and dipping in your toes rather than swimming. It runs from around April 29 to around mid-September, and depending on weather conditions can continue to around mid-October, from about 9:30 to 16:30. Admission is free, and because the long season stretches from Golden Week into early autumn, you can visit in pleasant weather outside the height of summer, which is a great advantage. It sits within a large agricultural park, so you can also stroll the grounds after playing in the water.

Tips

The sloped channel is slippery and off limits. Follow the signs as you play. Children of elementary school age and younger must be accompanied by a guardian, and infants who are not yet out of diapers and pets are not allowed. The flowing water is not drinking water, so be sure to bring your own drinks. The official site does not state specific 2026 dates, so checking whether it is running before you leave is the sure way. Since it ends around 16:30, starting to wrap up at 16:00 leaves comfortable time to change.
