The Kajo Central Plaza Fountain spreads out in front of Kajo Central, directly connected to the west exit of JR Yamagata Station (JR山形駅). In the official Yamagata City list of 21 recommended parks for outings, it appears in the section for parks where you can play in water, introduced with the comment 「In summer there is a fountain and it is very cool」. It is remarkably cool for somewhere in the heart of the city, and its greatest charm is how casually you can drop by while shopping or eating. The plaza has benches, so adults can sit and watch while the children play. Public restrooms, coin parking, shopping facilities and restaurants are all nearby, so changing clothes or picking up extras is no trouble. Since use is free, you can also just touch the water for a short while.

It is a plaza in front of the station with many people passing through, so be mindful of your surroundings when running about. Changing is easier in the restrooms inside Kajo Central.
