About this spot

This large prefectural park spreads across the western slope of Mt. Zao. With a rolling lawn plaza and combination play equipment, it is an ideal spot for children at the age when they want to run everywhere. Lay a picnic sheet in the shade and it doubles as your lunch spot. The elevation keeps the breeze cooler than in the city center, which makes it pleasant even in summer. The open views out to distant mountain ranges are also good for photos.

Tips

A shop is not always open, so preparing lunch beforehand is the sure bet. Parts of the plaza have little shade, so hats and drinks are essential. The park is large, so parking near the area where you plan to play makes moving around much easier. Save energy for the afternoon water play and wrap up before anyone is worn out.
