The Akasakadai Comprehensive Park (Dragon Park) fountain is a popular Kai City spot that operates in summer for water play. It runs from 9:30 to 16:30, and from 9:30 to 15:30 on Mondays and Thursdays only, and use is free. The 2026 operating period has not been announced, so check the official Kai City website before you set out. A 25,000 square metre lawn spreads around the fountain, so you can lay out a sheet and rest as soon as you come out of the water. With play equipment including a slide shaped like Mt. Fuji (富士山), a forest corridor and an 850 m rubber-chip-paved loop path, you can alternate between water play and outdoor play. Being on high ground, the breeze passes through and it is more comfortable than the town down in the basin.

Vending machines in the park sell disposable nappies and baby wipes, so a younger sibling along is no problem. A pop-up tent for changing is handy. Shade is limited, so bringing a tent or tarp makes the stay much more comfortable.
