Kachozan Observatory (花鳥山展望台)

About this spot

A viewpoint on a hill in Yatsushiro, Fuefuki City (笛吹市), commanding a sweeping view of the Kofu Basin (甲府盆地) and the ridgeline of the Southern Alps. The elevated tracks of the Linear Chuo Shinkansen maglev test line stretch below, and on days with running tests you may catch the moment a train passes by. A child's reaction of surprise at how fast it is is a pleasure unique to this spot. Orchards spread all around, and the peaceful scenery is typical of a region known for peaches and grapes. Being on a hill, the breeze passes through, so even a summer morning stays relatively cool.

八代ふるさと公園親水広場(水の遊び場)は、丘の上の公園にある夏の水遊びスポットです。利用は無料で、まわりに芝生広場が広がっているため、水から上がったらすぐにシートを敷いて休めます。丘の上なので風が抜け、盆地の街なかよりも過ごしやすいのがこの公園の強みです。園内には令和6年4月にリニューアルした古墳モチーフの大型複合遊具、わんぱく広場、国史跡の銚子塚古墳と盃塚古墳、桜300本の桜の森、展望ふるさと館、リニア展望台、多目的広場までそろっており、水遊びに飽きても行き先に困りません。遊びと学びを行ったり来たりできる、笛吹市らしい公園です。

Tips

料金は無料です。開設期間は未発表(例年は夏季)なので、出発前に笛吹市の公式ページ(https://www.city.fuefuki.yamanashi.jp/shisetsu/koen/005.html)で必ず確認してください。日差しをさえぎるものが限られるので、ポップアップテントかタープがあると快適です。丘の上まで坂を上がるため、ベビーカーより抱っこひものほうが動きやすい場面があります。着替えの場所は限られるので、タオルポンチョを用意しておくと安心です。

Tips

Viewing is free. Checking the published schedule of running tests in advance raises your chances of seeing a train. There is little shade, so do not forget a hat and drinks. Parking space is limited, so when it is crowded, do not push on and wrap up early.
