Yatsushiro Furusato Park Water Plaza (water play area)
About this spot
The Yatsushiro Furusato Park Water Plaza (water play area) is a summer water-play spot in a hilltop park. Use is free, and a lawn plaza spreads around it, so you can lay out a sheet and rest as soon as you come out of the water. Because it sits on a hill, the breeze passes through and it is more comfortable than the town in the basin, which is this park's strength. The grounds also hold the burial-mound-themed large combination play structure renewed in April 2024, the Wanpaku Playground, the nationally designated historic Choshizuka Burial Mound (銚子塚古墳) and Sakazukizuka Burial Mound (盃塚古墳), a cherry forest of 300 cherry trees, the Tenbo Furusato Hall, a maglev observatory and a multipurpose field, so you never lack somewhere to go if you tire of the water. It is a park typical of Fuefuki City (笛吹市), letting you move back and forth between play and learning.
Season & hours
Name: 八代ふるさと公園 親水広場(水の遊び場)
Date & time: 開設期間は未発表 (例年は夏季)
Venue: 笛吹市・八代ふるさと公園
Tips
Use is free. The opening period has not been announced (it is usually summer), so be sure to check the Fuefuki City official page (https://www.city.fuefuki.yamanashi.jp/shisetsu/koen/005.html) before you set out. There is limited protection from the sun, so a pop-up tent or a tarp makes it more comfortable. Since you climb a slope to reach the hilltop, there are moments when a baby carrier moves more easily than a stroller. Changing areas are limited, so preparing a towel poncho gives peace of mind.
Best time to visit
Arrive at 13:40 and you can play a full 2 hours 20 minutes, right up to the hours when the sunlight softens
