The Water Play Plaza (Water Play Area) at Yatsushiro Furusato Park (八代ふるさと公園 親水広場) is a summer water-play spot in a hilltop park. It's free to use, and since a lawn plaza spreads out around it, you can spread a sheet and rest right after getting out of the water. Being on a hilltop, the breeze passes through, making this park more comfortable to spend time in than downtown in the basin — that's its strength. The grounds also have the kofun-themed large combination play equipment renewed in April 2024 (Reiwa 6), the Wanpaku Plaza, the prefecturally designated Oka-Choshizuka Kofun (岡・銚子塚古墳) and Sakazukizuka Kofun (盃塚古墳), a grove of 300 cherry trees, the Tenbo Furusato-kan exhibit hall, a maglev observation deck, and a multipurpose plaza — so even if you tire of water play, you won't run out of things to do. It's a park true to Fuefuki City's character, letting you move back and forth between play and learning.

Tips

Admission is free. The opening period has not yet been announced (typically summer), so be sure to check Fuefuki City's official page (https://www.city.fuefuki.yamanashi.jp/shisetsu/koen/005.html) before heading out. There's limited shade, so a pop-up tent or tarp will help keep things comfortable. Since you need to climb a slope to reach the hilltop, a baby carrier can be easier to manage than a stroller in some spots. Changing space is limited, so bringing a towel poncho is reassuring.

Best time to visit

Arriving from 1:40 PM gives you a full 2 hours 20 minutes of play until the sunlight softens.
