About this spot

The Wanpaku Plaza (children's play area) at Yatsushiro Furusato Park (八代ふるさと公園) has large combination play equipment renewed in April 2024 (Reiwa 6). Its design, themed around burial mounds and ancient pottery, is an interesting touch that really captures this park's character. Fitness equipment for adults is also installed nearby, so accompanying grown-ups can stretch their bodies too. Spreading a sheet on the lawn plaza for lunch lets you enjoy the pleasant breeze crossing the hilltop. In spring, a grove of 300 cherry trees blooms, and in summer the green shade becomes a resting spot instead.

Tips

Use is free. Since there isn't always a food stall open in the park, bringing your own bento is the safer choice. In summer, the metal parts of the play equipment can get hot in the daytime, so check the temperature before touching. The multipurpose plaza is also spacious, so if you play ball games there, be mindful of others around you.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour 30 minutes. Finishing lunch in the shade before playing works out comfortably.
