About this spot

This is Yamanashi Prefecture's archaeology museum, standing on Kai Fudoki-no-Oka in the Sone Hills of southern Kofu. Jomon pottery and stone tools unearthed from sites around the prefecture, along with grave goods from the Kofun period, are arranged in chronological order, so even children can feel that people long ago really used tools like these. Photographs cannot convey the actual size of the objects or the fineness of their patterns, which makes seeing them in person worthwhile. The building is air-conditioned, making it just right as the first stop on a hot summer morning. Outdoors there are also reconstructed ancient dwellings, so you can combine the exhibits with a stroll.

小瀬スポーツ公園クラフトタワーは、体育館の南側にある階段状に水が流れ落ちるモニュメント型の水遊び場です。2026年は8月7日(金)から9月30日(水)まで、10:30〜14:30に水が流れます。プールのように深さがないので、小さな子でも水の流れに手を入れたり、段を伝う水を追いかけたりして安心して遊べます。利用は無料で、まわりに芝生が広がっているため、ぬれた体を乾かしながら休憩するのも簡単です。夏休みの終わりから9月いっぱいまで動いているので、混み合うお盆を外して計画するのもおすすめです。

Tips

料金は無料です。稼働は10:30〜14:30と昼過ぎまでなので、午後遅くに到着すると水が止まっている点に注意してください。天候や利用状況により時間・期間の変更や見合わせがあるため、出発前に公式の案内(https://www.kose-sp.pref.yamanashi.jp/info/use/359879/)を必ず確認しましょう。着替えは車や芝生のテント内でできるよう、大きめのバスタオルやポンチョがあると便利です。9月に入ると水が冷たく感じる日もあるので、羽織るものを1枚持っていくと安心です。

Tips

The permanent exhibition has an admission fee, but elementary and junior high school students are admitted free (please check the official information for current prices). Parking is free and there are plenty of spaces. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended, since you will walk around the burial mounds right afterwards.
