Maruyamazuka Burial Mound (丸山塚古墳)

About this spot

Right next to the archaeology museum, inside Sone Hills Park (曽根丘陵公園), the nationally designated historic sites Choshizuka Burial Mound (銚子塚古墳) and Maruyamazuka Burial Mound (丸山塚古墳) remain side by side. Choshizuka is a keyhole-shaped mound about 169 m long, one of the largest in eastern Japan. You can walk up the grass-covered mound, and looking out over the Kofu Basin from the top lets you relive the view the powerful clans of the time once saw. When children learn that the pottery and haniwa they saw in the museum came from this very place, their expressions change. The wide lawn is also perfect for running around and moving your body.

小瀬スポーツ公園クラフトタワーは、体育館の南側にある階段状に水が流れ落ちるモニュメント型の水遊び場です。2026年は8月7日(金)から9月30日(水)まで、10:30〜14:30に水が流れます。プールのように深さがないので、小さな子でも水の流れに手を入れたり、段を伝う水を追いかけたりして安心して遊べます。利用は無料で、まわりに芝生が広がっているため、ぬれた体を乾かしながら休憩するのも簡単です。夏休みの終わりから9月いっぱいまで動いているので、混み合うお盆を外して計画するのもおすすめです。

Tips

料金は無料です。稼働は10:30〜14:30と昼過ぎまでなので、午後遅くに到着すると水が止まっている点に注意してください。天候や利用状況により時間・期間の変更や見合わせがあるため、出発前に公式の案内(https://www.kose-sp.pref.yamanashi.jp/info/use/359879/)を必ず確認しましょう。着替えは車や芝生のテント内でできるよう、大きめのバスタオルやポンチョがあると便利です。9月に入ると水が冷たく感じる日もあるので、羽織るものを1枚持っていくと安心です。

Tips

Visiting is free. There is almost no shade, so do not forget a hat and drinks. The mound has slopes, so take care when running down. You can walk here directly from the museum parking lot.
