Yamanashi Fujikawa Craft Park Grand Fountain

About this spot

The Grand Fountain at Yamanashi Fujikawa Craft Park is a free water-play spot you can walk straight into, with water shooting up at random from 125 holes. Since there is no telling which hole will spray next, children chase and dodge the columns of water and are soaked head to toe in no time. It operates from late April to mid-October, 9:30-16:00; the exact opening and closing dates have not been announced. The park is open year-round, all day, with free admission, and across an area equal to about 11 Tokyo Domes it offers the Fort Playground, the Fuwafuwa bouncing dome, the giant Flower Maze, lawn areas, a canoe pond and a barbecue area. The Fujikawa Kirie no Mori Museum of Paper Cutting Art is inside the park and Michi-no-Eki Minobu roadside station is next door, so a whole day here never gets dull.

Season & hours

Tips

Free of charge. The water runs from 9:30 to 16:00, so note that it will already be off if you arrive late in the afternoon. Because the opening and closing dates have not been announced, be sure to check the official page (https://www.kirienomori.jp/guide/16/) before you leave. Everyone gets completely wet, so bring plenty of spare clothes. The ground around the fountain is slippery, so remind children not to run too much. There is little shade, so a pop-up tent or tarp makes breaks much easier.

Best time to visit

Arrive at 14:20 and you can play flat out until the water stops at 16:00.
