Shakado Ruins Museum (釈迦堂遺跡博物館)

This museum displays finds from the Shakado ruins group, discovered during excavation surveys carried out for the construction of the Chuo Expressway. The greatest highlight is the collection of more than 1,000 Jomon-period clay figurines, many of them designated Important Cultural Properties. The sight of row after row of clay figures, each with a different face and shape, is overwhelming, and children will want to find their own favorite among them. The fineness of the pottery patterns also gives a completely different impression in person than in photographs. The air-conditioned galleries make it an ideal stop on a hot summer morning.

みさか桃源郷公園親水広場・じゃぶじゃぶ池は、夏季に開放される深さ約35cmの水遊び場です。園内を流れる小川ともつながっていて、池で水につかったり流れをたどって歩いたりと、遊び方の幅が広いのが特徴。利用は無料で、公園は4〜9月なら8:30〜20:00まで開いているため、夕方の涼しい時間帯までゆっくり過ごせます。まわりには40,000平方メートルの敷地に芝生広場、滑り台やアスレチック、森林浴のできる散策路が広がり、水から上がったあとの遊び場も豊富です。桃の産地・笛吹市らしい果樹畑に囲まれた景色のなかで、のびのびと夏を楽しめます。

Tips

料金は無料です。じゃぶじゃぶ池の開設期間は未発表(例年は夏季)なので、出発前に笛吹市の公式ページ(https://www.city.fuefuki.yamanashi.jp/shisetsu/koen/001.html)で必ず確認してください。深さ約35cmと小さな子には浅くない場所もあるため、必ず保護者が付き添いを。着替えの場所は限られるので、ポップアップテントかバスタオルポンチョがあると便利です。日暮れまで開いていますが、夕方は虫が出るので虫よけがあると快適です。

Tips

Admission is around 400 yen for adults, with reduced or free entry for elementary and junior high school students (please check the facility information for current fees and closing days). Stairs connect the museum to the Shakado Parking Area on the Chuo Expressway, and the parking lot can also be reached from ordinary roads. The exhibition rooms are places to view quietly, so if the children feel like running around, let them burn off energy in the outdoor plaza first.
