This roadside station in Toyotomi, Chuo City, centers on a direct-sales corner lined with fresh vegetables and fruit brought in by local farmers. In summer, morning-picked corn, plums and grapes are piled up at the storefront, letting you see the season's harvest with your own eyes. The silk soft-serve ice cream, named after a district once known for sericulture, has a smooth texture and is popular with children too. Bringing a cooler bag is reassuring, so you can pick up the vegetables you buy on the way home. Stopping here at the start of the day gives you a sense of the character of the Chuo City area you are about to explore.
Tips
Parking is free and the restrooms are well kept. Popular vegetables can sell out early in the morning, so if there is something you want, come first thing. When buying fresh produce, a cooler box makes summer shopping worry-free.
Best time to visit
About 1 hour. The morning, when the selection is widest, is recommended.
