The Manriki Park Babbling Brook Plaza / Waterside Plaza is a water-friendly area that uses the shallows of the stream running through the park. It is not a sectioned-off place like a pool but a near-natural flow, so children find their own ways to play, scooping up water or turning over stones to look for creatures. The park is open 24 hours and use is free. Surrounded by pine groves, it has plenty of shade, and staying relatively cool even in midsummer is this park's strength. The grounds include a combination play structure in the Children's Plaza, five lawn areas, the Petting Animal Plaza, the ornamental fountain plaza Fuefuki-no-Izumi (Fuefuki Spring), a roller skating rink, and even a barbecue area, so rich in options that one day is not enough to see it all. You can go back and forth between water play and outdoor play as often as you like and pass the time until evening.

Use is free. The water play period has not been announced, so be sure to check the official page (http://www.yamanashi-fruitpark.co.jp/manriki-kouen/hiroba.html) before setting out. The fountain plaza Fuefuki-no-Izumi (Fuefuki Spring) is ornamental and not a place to go in and play. There are stones on the streambed, so water shoes are safer. After rain the water volume can rise, so look at the current and decide not to push it. In the pine grove, insect repellent makes the time more comfortable.

Best time to visit

Arriving at 14:00 gives you a relaxed two and a half hours in the shade as the sunlight softens.
