The Donguri no Mori Stream (どんぐりの森の小川) at Yamanashi Prefectural Forest Park Kanegawa no Mori is a free water-play area flowing through grounds surrounded by trees. Small waterfalls and tunnels are set up, offering features that go beyond simply dipping your feet — passing through the water or standing beneath a waterfall. Since forest surrounds the area, shade is plentiful, and being able to stay relatively cool even in midsummer is this park's major strength. The roughly 36-hectare grounds spread across six forest areas and also have the long roller slide, large play equipment, an obstacle course, and rental bicycles. Moving back and forth between water play and forest play, you can spend the whole day out in nature.

Admission is free. The opening period has not yet been announced (typically summer), so be sure to check the official page (https://kanegawanomori.jp/info/p4869/) before heading out. There are stones on the streambed, so water shoes are the safer choice. Insects appear in the forest, so insect repellent will make it more comfortable. Water levels can rise after rain, so check the current before deciding not to push it. The park is large with multiple parking lots, so choosing one near Donguri no Mori makes getting around easier.

Best time to visit

Arriving from 2:10 PM gives you 2 hours 20 minutes of play in the cool, shaded hours until evening.
