Acorn Forest Stream, Kanagawa Forest, Yamanashi Prefectural Forest Park
About this spot
The Acorn Forest Stream in Kanagawa Forest, Yamanashi Prefectural Forest Park, is a free water-play spot flowing through grounds surrounded by trees. Small waterfalls and tunnels have been built in, so you can duck through the water or stand beneath a fall rather than just dipping your feet in. Because forest surrounds it, shade is abundant and it stays relatively cool even in midsummer, which is a major strength of this park. The roughly 36-hectare site holds six woodlands and offers a long roller slide, large play structures, an athletic course and rental bicycles. You can move back and forth between water play and forest play and spend the whole day out in nature.

Tips
There is no charge. The opening period has not been announced (it is usually summer), so be sure to check the official page (https://kanegawanomori.jp/info/p4869/) before you set out. The streambed has stones, so water shoes are safer. Insects come out in the forest, so repellent makes it more comfortable. After rain the water can rise, so watch the flow and do not push it. The park is large with several parking lots, so choosing one near the Acorn Forest makes getting around easier.
Best time to visit
