About this spot

Yamanashi Prefectural Forest Park Kanegawa no Mori (山梨県森林公園 金川の森) spans about 36 hectares, with six forest areas loosely connected. Rental bicycles are available in the park, and riding through the tree-lined paths is a pleasure unique to this park. The long roller slide, built to take advantage of the slope, is hugely popular with children, who tend to want to climb back up and go again and again. Large play equipment and an obstacle course are also scattered throughout, so you can explore according to your interests. With so much shade from the trees, it's a relief to be able to move around relatively comfortably even in the midday heat of midsummer.

Tips

Admission is free, but rental bicycles may have a fee (check the on-site information for rates and rental hours). The roller slide can heat up or scuff the seat of your pants, so a piece of cardboard or a dedicated mat helps keep it comfortable. The park is large, so decide on a parking spot and meeting place ahead of time.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour 10 minutes. With plenty of shade throughout, you can be active even in the daytime.
