Sengafuchi Pool

About this spot

The Ojiro River, flowing down from Mt. Kaikomagatake, is a pure mountain stream chosen as one of the 100 Famous Waters of Japan. Walking the trail from the parking lot for about 20 minutes brings you to Sengafuchi Pool, the first highlight. Ringed by rocks, the pool glows blue-green depending on the angle of the light, with a clarity beyond what photographs show. The gorge is covered by trees and stays cool, with air completely unlike the town even at the height of summer. Seeing a natural river here makes the contrast with the artificial water plaza in the afternoon an interesting experience.

白州・尾白の森名水公園べるが親水広場は、人工的につくられた流れのある浅い池で、赤ちゃんや幼児でも安心して遊べる水遊び場です。自然の渓流と違って水深が管理されているので、小さな子を連れていても目の届く範囲で遊ばせられます。営業は9:00〜17:00、水曜定休ですが夏休み期間の7月19日から8月31日までは無休です。基本の利用は無料ですが、夏休み期間(7/19〜8/31)のみ北杜市外の5歳以上は1人200円の入園料がかかります(北杜市民は無料)。園内にはロックウォールやターザンロープ、滑り台などの遊具、噴水、キャンプ場、温泉「尾白の湯」、雑貨＆カフェsunny pickがそろい、遊んだあとに温泉で温まって帰るという締めくくりも選べます。南アルプスの森に包まれた、白州らしい水遊びの場所です。

Tips

料金は無料です。ただし夏休み期間(7/19〜8/31)のみ北杜市外の5歳以上は1人200円の入園料が必要で、北杜市民は無料です。営業は9:00〜17:00、水曜定休(夏休み期間7/19〜8/31は無休)。開設期間は未発表(例年は夏季)なので、出発前に公式ページ(https://www.verga.info/play)で必ず確認してください。標高が高く水が冷たいので、体が冷えたらすぐ上がれるようバスタオルと羽織るものを用意しましょう。遊んだあとは併設の温泉「尾白の湯」で温まれるので、入浴用のタオルも別に持っていくと便利です。

Tips

Viewing is free. The trail has rocky sections and steps, so walk in sturdy shoes rather than sandals. Beyond Sengafuchi Pool it becomes a serious mountain trail, so families with small children should plan to turn back at Sengafuchi Pool. It is dangerous when the water is high or after rain, so make the call not to enter. Parts of the gorge have fast currents, and it is not a place for swimming.
