Kano-juku on the Nakasendo (中山道加納宿)

About this spot

The stretch of old highway through Kano, which flourished as one of the post towns on the Nakasendo linking Edo and Kyoto. It has the unusual origin of being both the castle town of Kano Castle and a post town at once, and old townhouses, stone monuments and waymarkers are still scattered along the route. Reading the information boards as you walk, the extent of the post town and the location of the main inn gradually come into view. Telling children that people once walked from here all the way to Kyoto is sure to surprise them with the sense of distance. Even just walking the section from Kano Tenmangu Shrine to Kano Park conveys the atmosphere of the post town.

岐阜市加納地区の加納公園(加納丸の内4番)にある、無料で利用できる水遊び場「加納公園徒渉池(児童用プール)」です。2026年は7月18日から8月24日までのうち計28日間、13時から16時まで開設されます。加納公園は加納城の跡地に整備された公園で、周囲に残る石垣を眺めながら遊べるのがこの場所ならではの魅力です。水深が浅いため、まだ泳げない小さな子どもでも自分の足で歩きながら水に親しめます。対象は原則として小学3年生以下で、未就学児は保護者同伴、おむつのとれない幼児は利用できません。開設日は岐阜市の日程表のとおりで、悪天候のときは赤旗が掲げられて中止になります。

Tips

利用は無料です。当日の実施可否は現地の旗で確認できます(赤旗は中止の合図)。水着を服の下に着ていくと着替えがスムーズです。日陰が限られるため、レジャーシートと多めの飲み物を持参してください。16時終了なので、15時45分ごろには片づけを始めましょう。

Tips

Strolling is free. These are everyday local roads, so watch out for cars and bicycles as you walk. Some sections have little shade, so bring a hat and drinks and break the walk into stages rather than pushing on. Comfortable walking shoes make the old highway much easier.
