About this spot

A facility introducing the history and culture of Kasamatsu Town. Kasamatsu was a port town that served as a hub of river shipping on the Kiso River in the Edo period, and in the early Meiji era the prefectural office was even located here. That history can be traced through documents and photographs. You can also learn here where the name of Minato Park, where you will play later today, comes from. The exhibits are compact, on a scale that even small children can get through while their attention holds. Once you know how the town came to be, walking the riverside afterward makes the embankments and waterways look a little different.

Tips

Check the town's official website in advance for opening days and conditions of use. The facility has closed days, so a check before you set out is recommended. It is quiet inside, so telling small children about indoor voices beforehand is reassuring.
