About this spot

This is a tree-lined path atop the levee that continues from Chisui Shrine, with pine trees lined up in rows. The pines, said to have been planted to mark the completion of the Horeki flood control works, have grown into what is now a long green tunnel. The Ibi River and Nagara River flow on either side of the levee, and this is a place where you can physically sense the role of this dividing levee that separates the two rivers. With continuous shade, it's a relatively comfortable path to walk even on a summer morning. There's no need for a long walk — a round trip of about 20 to 30 minutes is enough to fully enjoy the atmosphere.

Tips

Walking here is free. The levee path is mostly shaded, but it can get hot on days without breeze, so don't forget drinks. In seasons with a lot of insects, insect repellent helps. Turn back according to your children's stamina.

Best time to visit

About 35 minutes. Morning hours with dappled sunlight through the trees make for a cool walk.
