Tamashima Forest Fountain Plaza

About this spot

Tamashima Forest Fountain Plaza in Tamashima, Kurashiki City, is a free water-play spot centered on a large fountain that rises about 5 meters. The spray that seems to fall straight from above is impressive, making it a perfect playground for children who want to get thoroughly soaked. It usually runs from mid-June to mid-September, roughly 9:00 to 18:00, but this changes with the weather, so adjust your plans to the sky that day. There is play equipment renewed in June 2024 with a newly built area for toddlers, so small children still afraid of the water have another way to play. The stone clock tower and the wisteria trellis are the landmarks, and with shaded benches it is an easy park for accompanying adults to rest in. There is an outdoor pool on site, but that is a separate paid facility.

Tips

The specific 2026 operating dates have not been announced. Check the facility information before you leave to see whether the water will be on that day. The fountain can stop depending on the weather, so on rainy-looking days do not force it and save the visit for another day. The area around the fountain gets slippery when wet, so have children wear sandals that stay on or water shoes. The adjoining outdoor pool is a separate paid facility with different fees, hours, and swimming conditions. Having a change of clothes, a towel, and a plastic bag for wet clothes for each person makes the trip home easier.

Best time to visit

About 3 hours 15 minutes. The afternoon, when the sun softens, is recommended; with operation until around 18:00 you can play right into the evening
