The Omachi Aqua Garden Water Play Plaza in Naka Ward, Okayama City, is a roughly 1,500-square-meter waterside park built around Omachi Cold Spring, selected as one of Japan's 100 Best Waters. Besides the water play equipment, there is a water wheel you pump up water with by pedaling, and a seesaw that moves in tandem with the flow of a waterfall, so the contraptions all let you move water using your own body. Rather than just cooling off in the water, you get to experience water moving by your own effort, which is what makes this park fascinating enough to absorb even elementary-school-age children. There is also a spring-water drawing station, where you can see locals coming to fill up on the famous water. Admission is free, and the park is open from 9:00 to 18:00.

The operating period for the water play equipment in 2026 has not been announced, so please check with Okayama City's information before you set out. The park is closed on the first and third Friday of each month and over the New Year period, so do not forget to check the day of the week. The spring water is cold, so have small children get out for frequent breaks to avoid getting too chilled. If you use the water-drawing station, bring an empty bottle and be considerate so you do not get in the way of local residents. Having a change of clothes, towels, and a plastic bag for wet clothes for everyone in your group makes the trip home much easier.
