The Iwate Prefectural Goshoko Wide-Area Park Family Land Splash Pond is the free water play area inside Iwate Prefectural Goshoko Wide-Area Park Family Land, which spreads along the shore of Lake Goshoko in Shizukuishi Town, Iwate District. Its defining feature is a long season of water play from mid-April to the end of October, so children can get into the water not only at the height of summer but also on warm days in early summer and early autumn. A fountain pond sits right alongside, and moving between the rising jets and the shallow pond is the greatest pleasure of all for children. The large pirate ship structure, rafts, adventure equipment, and the Great Lawn surround it, so when they tire of the water they can move straight on to the next kind of play. Time spent at the water's edge with Lake Goshoko and the mountains in view has an openness only Shizukuishi can offer.

Tips

The pond may be unavailable for a few days for cleaning. In 2026 the cleaning shutdown ran from June 1 to 3, but that has already ended. The 2026 start date has only been announced as mid-April, so be sure to check the park's latest notices for operating status before you set out. Prepare footwear that protects the feet, such as water shoes, so no one cuts a foot on the bottom of the pond. Follow the notices on site regarding whether children not yet out of nappies may enter the water. There is little shade, so do not forget sun protection and hydration. Wearing swimwear under their clothes makes changing smooth. Take all rubbish home with you.
