The Okayama Forest Park German Forest Splash Pool in Akaiwa City is a renovated water play spot inside the park. It is set at a shallow depth suited to children, so even little ones can stand on their own feet and play. The biggest highlight is the structure that lets you slip around behind the waterfall; looking out from the far side of a curtain of water is an experience an ordinary pool simply cannot offer. There is also a fountain that sends water spilling over, so wherever you stand there is a way to touch the water. A wide wooden deck where you can eat sits right alongside, so adults can rest and watch the bags while children come and go from the water. Use of the splash pool is free, and separate admission to German Forest is required.

Tips

Swimwear or a swim diaper is mandatory; you cannot enter bare, in an ordinary diaper, or in underwear. A guardian must accompany children. Eating and drinking in the pool is prohibited, so take your drinks on the deck. There are no showers or changing rooms, so be sure to plan how you will change and to bring bath towels. The opening period for 2026 has not been announced, and the pool may close due to weather or maintenance. Check the official information for the day's status before you set out. The sun is strong up on the hill, so do not forget a hat and frequent breaks.
