Takamatsu Park Splash Pool

About this spot

The Takamatsu Park Splash Pool is a man-made pool for children, open only in summer, in one corner of Takamatsu Park (Takamatsu Pond) in Morioka City. At about 20 cm at its deepest it is shallow, so even small children who cannot yet swim can safely get in and play. Use is free, and it opens during the summer, from around July to September, but the exact start and end dates for 2026 have not been officially announced, so check the operating status with the Morioka City information before you set out. Right nearby are the equipment of the children's playground area, the Fureai Harappa meadow, and the roofed multipurpose outdoor plaza, so you can spend the day moving between water and land. Set on the shore of Takamatsu Pond, known as a cherry blossom spot, it makes a pleasant finish to walk a lap around the pond after the water play and look in on the boat dock, the rose garden, and the peony garden.

Tips

To avoid injuries on the pool bottom or around it, bring footwear that protects the feet, such as water shoes. Always check with the Morioka City park information and the notices on site regarding whether children still in diapers may enter and the day's operating status. There are days when it cannot be used without notice, due to cleaning or weather. Shade is limited, so do not forget a picnic sheet, a sunshade to stand in for a tent, and frequent hydration. Changing spaces are limited, so wearing swimwear underneath makes changing easier. Everyone takes their own trash home.
