Onikoshi Sozen Shrine (鬼越蒼前神社)

About this spot

A shrine in Ukai, Takizawa City, dedicated to the guardian deity of horses. It is widely known as the place where brightly decorated horses set off for Morioka during the traditional Chagu Chagu Umakko festival held every June. On ordinary days the grounds are quiet and surrounded by trees, and even a short visit, walking the approach and offering a prayer, conveys how long this land has lived with horses. Tell your children that the horses line up and start their procession right here, and their eyes will light up at once. It makes an ideal first stop for learning the story of the area at the start of an outing.

滝沢市の滝沢総合公園にある無料の水遊びスポットが「滝沢総合公園ロックガーデンウォーターカーテン」です。高さ3m・幅25mという自然石の壁面を水が流れ落ちる大きな仕掛けで、そばに立つだけで空気がひんやりと変わるのが分かります。プールでもじゃぶじゃぶ池でもない、水の壁に向かって突っ込んでいくという遊び方ができるのがここならではの魅力です。令和8年度(2026年度)は5月9日(土)から9月上旬までの稼働を予定しており、運転時間は9時から17時までのタイマー自動運転。まわりには芝生広場、日本庭園、大型アスレチックのあるふれあいの森が広がっているので、濡れて冷えたら日なたで乾かし、また水へ、と行き来しながら夕方まで過ごせます。

Tips

大雨・強風・貯水量不足の場合は予告なく運転が休止されます。出発前に滝沢市の案内で当日の稼働状況を確認してください。自然石は濡れると非常に滑りやすいため、マリンシューズなど足を守れる履物が必須です。裸足やビーチサンダルは避けてください。石の壁面をよじ登らないよう子どもに必ず伝えましょう。着替え場所は限られるので、水着を下に着ていくとスムーズです。日陰が限られるため日よけとこまめな水分補給を忘れずに。5月や9月は水が冷たく風も冷えるので、羽織るものとタオルを多めに用意してください。ゴミは各自持ち帰りです。

Tips

The shrine sits in a quiet neighborhood surrounded by homes and farmland. Please be considerate about where you park and how loudly you speak so as not to disturb residents. The grounds have gravel and steps, so a stroller is hard to push in places. Going over shrine etiquette with your children before you enter makes for a calmer visit. Insect repellent is welcome in summer, when bugs are plentiful. The area gets extremely crowded on festival day, so choosing an ordinary day means a more relaxed visit.
