A municipal facility that stores and displays materials excavated from archaeological sites within Takizawa City. Seeing real earthenware and stone tools up close suddenly makes the idea that people once lived here feel tangible. The exhibition is compact, so you can go around it within a small child's attention span, which is a real blessing for families. It is a chance for parents and children to imagine together how people lived on this land at the foot of Mt. Iwate (岩手山). Spending the hot late-morning hours indoors also helps everyone save energy for the water play in the afternoon.

滝沢市の滝沢総合公園にある無料の水遊びスポットが「滝沢総合公園ロックガーデンウォーターカーテン」です。高さ3m・幅25mという自然石の壁面を水が流れ落ちる大きな仕掛けで、そばに立つだけで空気がひんやりと変わるのが分かります。プールでもじゃぶじゃぶ池でもない、水の壁に向かって突っ込んでいくという遊び方ができるのがここならではの魅力です。令和8年度(2026年度)は5月9日(土)から9月上旬までの稼働を予定しており、運転時間は9時から17時までのタイマー自動運転。まわりには芝生広場、日本庭園、大型アスレチックのあるふれあいの森が広がっているので、濡れて冷えたら日なたで乾かし、また水へ、と行き来しながら夕方まで過ごせます。

Tips

大雨・強風・貯水量不足の場合は予告なく運転が休止されます。出発前に滝沢市の案内で当日の稼働状況を確認してください。自然石は濡れると非常に滑りやすいため、マリンシューズなど足を守れる履物が必須です。裸足やビーチサンダルは避けてください。石の壁面をよじ登らないよう子どもに必ず伝えましょう。着替え場所は限られるので、水着を下に着ていくとスムーズです。日陰が限られるため日よけとこまめな水分補給を忘れずに。5月や9月は水が冷たく風も冷えるので、羽織るものとタオルを多めに用意してください。ゴミは各自持ち帰りです。

Tips

Check the Takizawa City information in advance for opening hours, closing days, and whether a reservation is needed to visit. Many exhibits cannot be touched, so a word to your children beforehand keeps things smooth. The interior is a quiet space. Locating the restrooms when you arrive brings peace of mind. Assume you cannot eat a packed lunch here, and save lunch for after you move to the park's lawn plaza.
