Kamei Park (亀居公園)

About this spot

This park on a hill in Ogata, Otake City, was laid out on the site of Kamei Castle (亀居城). Built by Fukushima Masanori (福島正則) in the early Edo period and torn down only a few years later, the castle has a short history, yet its imposing stone walls remain to this day. Standing on top of them, you can take in the Seto Inland Sea (瀬戸内海), the townscape of Otake, and even the row of factories along the shore. Known for its cherry blossoms in spring, the park offers deep shade from the trees in summer, which makes it well suited to a morning walk. It is a place unique to Otake, where history and a fine view come together.

晴海臨海公園水広場は、スイッチを押すと地面から一定時間ミストが噴き出す水遊び場です。2022年4月にオープンした比較的新しい公園の一角にあり、自分で押して自分で浴びるという仕組みなので、水がこわい子も少しずつ距離を縮めていけます。プールのような深さがないため、歩き始めたばかりの子でも一緒に遊べるのが安心なところ。隣には屋根付きのベンチがあり、日差しを避けながら交代で休めます。例年4月1日(水)頃から10月31日(土)頃までと稼働期間が長く、真夏を避けた過ごしやすい日をねらえるのも魅力です。利用は無料で、海風の抜ける気持ちのよい環境で水と遊べます。

Tips

水を含んだ地面は滑りやすいので、場内は走らないよう必ず声をかけてください。稼働は例年4月1日(水)頃〜10月31日(土)頃です。年によって変わることがあるため、出発前に大竹市の案内で確認しましょう。専用の更衣室がない場合に備えて、水着を服の下に着ていくと着替えがスムーズです。日差しをさえぎるものが少ないので、屋根付きベンチを休憩の拠点にしましょう。着替えとタオルは人数分より少し多めに用意すると安心です。

Tips

There is free parking. There are stone steps and slopes, so wear comfortable walking shoes. With a pushchair, going only as far as you can still gives you plenty of the view. Some spots have little shade, so walk with a hat and something to drink. There is no shop inside the park, so bring drinks with you.
