Shingu Central Park (新宮中央公園)
About this spot
The kendama-themed playground is the reason Shingu Central Park is called Kendama Park. Hatsukaichi is known as the birthplace of the kendama, and what makes this park unique is that it tells that story in the shape of its play equipment. The structures, suggesting round balls and cups, are fun just to look at, and children start climbing without needing any explanation. The entrance plaza with the fountain is only steps away, so you can go back and forth between equipment and water as often as you like. We recommend warming up here first, then moving on to the water.
Tips
Play equipment can get hot in the summer sun. Touch the surface of the slide to check the temperature before letting children use it. Shade is limited, so hats and drinks are essential. Weekend afternoons get crowded, so claim a bench in the shade early. Check the recommended age labels on the equipment and play safely.
Best time to visit
About 1 hour. Just the right length as a warm-up before moving on to the fountain
