Fountain at the Entrance Plaza, Shingu Central Park (新宮中央公園), also known as Kendama Park

About this spot

The fountain at the entrance plaza of Shingu Central Park (Kendama Park) is a full-scale fountain set in the plaza that forms the gateway to the park in Hatsukaichi. The space is large enough to host events, so there is no sense of being cramped even when you run about freely in the spray. The rising water looks cool just to watch, and step closer and it turns straight into water play. The kendama-themed playground is right next door, so moving freely between water and play equipment is the way to enjoy this park. Admission is free, and access from central Hatsukaichi is good, so it is easy to drop by on a whim.

Tips

The 2026 operating period has not been announced. Check the official website for the current status before you set out. The fountain may be switched off during events and on similar occasions. The stone paving is slippery when wet, so remind everyone not to run. In case there is no dedicated changing room, wearing swimwear under your clothes makes changing easier. The plaza offers little shade, so do not forget hats and frequent drinks. Bringing slightly more towels and changes of clothes than the number of people is reassuring.

Best time to visit

About 2 hours. After 15:00 the sun softens as it drops, making water play far more comfortable
