This station building attached to JR Fukuyama Station has a range of restaurants and food shops. Being in the centre of town, it is convenient to drop in straight after your castle walk. You can eat at a relaxed pace indoors with air conditioning, so it suits a lunch break on a hot day. Another option is to buy a takeaway bento or bread and eat it at the park in the afternoon. Stock up on drinks and snacks here in one go as well.

緑町公園親水広場(噴水施設)は、福山市の緑町公園にある街なかの水遊びスポットです。例年5月14日(木)から9月30日(水)まで、10:00〜17:00に稼働し、約10分おきに音楽に合わせてミストや水玉が吹き出します。ただ水が出るのではなく音楽と連動しているため、次の一吹きを待つ時間そのものがイベントになります。利用は無料で、水深のあるプールではないので、小さな子でも自分のペースで水にふれられるのが安心なところ。福山駅から歩いて行ける立地なので、電車でも気軽に来られます。夏休みの午後、街歩きの締めくくりにちょうどよい場所です。

Tips

稼働は例年5月14日(木)〜9月30日(水)の10:00〜17:00です。年によって変わることがあるため、出発前に福山市の案内で確認してください。専用の更衣室はないので、水着を服の下に着ていくと着替えがスムーズです。水がかかった床は滑りやすいため、走らないよう声をかけましょう。日陰が限られるので、帽子と飲み物は必ず持参を。着替えとタオルは人数分より少し多めに用意すると安心です。

Tips

It gets crowded at lunchtime, so shifting your timing or going in early will save you a wait. Midorimachi Park is within walking distance, but on days when you have a lot of luggage a coin locker will keep you light. You may also want to buy extra dry clothes after the water play, so it is reassuring to check the shop opening hours. Getting a bag for taking your rubbish home will come in handy at the park.
