Ueno Sports Park (庄原市上野総合公園)

About this spot

Right beside central Shobara, this community park is centered on Ueno Pond (上野池). It is known as a cherry blossom spot selected among Japan's 100 Best Cherry Blossom Sites, but in summer the trees around the pond cast deep shade, making it a pleasant place for a morning walk. The promenade circling the pond is flat and easy to push a stroller along, which is a welcome touch. Simply walking while looking for waterfowl and small creatures is enough to keep children happily occupied. Bihoku Hillside Park (国営備北丘陵公園) is a short drive away, so it is just the right distance for a first stop of the day.

国営備北丘陵公園ジャブジャブ池は、2026年は7月1日(水)から8月31日(月)まで、9:30〜17:30(最終入場17:00)に開設される水遊び場です。全長約40m、水深は30cm未満と浅く、歩き始めたばかりの小さな子でも安心して足をひたせます。備北オートビレッジのエリアにあり、管理センター横に専用の駐車場が用意されているのが大きな利点。ジャブジャブ池そのものの利用は無料で、必要なのは公園の入園料だけです(中学生以下は無料)。簡易更衣室があるので、遊んだあとの着替えもスムーズ。中国山地のふところにある高原の公園らしく、木立を抜ける風が心地よい水遊び場です。

Tips

ジャブジャブ池の利用は無料ですが、公園の入園料が別途必要です(中学生以下は無料。金額は公式サイトで確認してください)。雨天・悪天候のときは中止になる場合があるため、出発前に開設状況を確認しましょう。専用駐車場は備北オートビレッジ管理センターの横にあります。簡易更衣室はありますが混み合うことがあるので、水着を服の下に着ていくと待たずに遊べます。水深は浅くても目を離さず、必ず保護者が付き添ってください。

Tips

There is free parking. In summer, walking along the shaded west or north side of the pond keeps you out of the sun and is far more comfortable. There is no permanent shop in the park, so bring your own drinks. Insect repellent is reassuring when walking by the water.
