Jabu-Jabu Pond at Bihoku Hillside Park (国営備北丘陵公園) is a water play area that in 2026 opens from Wednesday, July 1 to Monday, August 31, from 9:30 to 17:30 (last entry 17:00). It is about 40 m long and less than 30 cm deep, shallow enough that even toddlers who have just started walking can dip their feet safely. It sits in the Bihoku Auto Village area, and a dedicated parking lot beside the management center is a major advantage. Use of the pond itself is free; all you need is the park admission fee (free for junior high school students and younger). A simple changing room makes changing after playing quick and easy. True to a highland park nestled in the Chugoku Mountains (中国山地), the breeze slipping through the trees makes this a delightful place to play in the water.

Use of Jabu-Jabu Pond is free, but park admission is required separately (free for junior high school students and younger; check the amount on the official website). It may be cancelled in rain or bad weather, so check the opening status before you set out. The dedicated parking lot is beside the Bihoku Auto Village management center. There is a simple changing room, but it can get crowded, so wearing swimsuits under your clothes lets you start playing without waiting. Even though the water is shallow, never take your eyes off children and always have a guardian stay with them.

Best time to visit

Arrive at 14:15 and you have more than two and a half hours until 17:00. The water feels best in the late afternoon as the sun sinks
