About this spot

Ikoi no Mori Park spreads across the wooded hills of Higashihiroshima City and is full of trees. The grounds are hilly, and if you choose a spot with plenty of shade it stays comfortable even in midsummer as the breeze passes through. Before heading to the Children's Plaza with its stream, spread a mat in the shade and start with lunch. Insect songs come from all around, and time flows completely differently from a park in the city centre. Resting a little after eating before getting into the water is also gentler on the body.

憩いの森公園こどもひろばの小川は、こども広場を低学年用と高学年用に分けるように流れる浅い小川です。柵ごしに眺めるのではなく実際に小川へ入って遊べるので、水の流れやひんやりした感触を体で味わえます。人気なのは小川を渡る「かご渡り」の遊具。水の上を自分の力で進むスリルに、子どもたちは何度も列に並びます。低学年用と高学年用でエリアが分かれているため、年齢の違うきょうだいでも安心して遊ばせられるのがうれしいところ。里山の木立に囲まれているので、木陰で休みながら長い時間を過ごせます。利用は無料です。

Tips

公園は水曜定休です。2026年の開設期間は未発表なので、出発前に公式サイトで確認してください。川底には石があるため、脱げにくいサンダルかマリンシューズを用意しましょう。着替えの場所が限られるので、水着を服の下に着ていくとスムーズです。かご渡りは順番待ちになることがあります。ゆずり合って遊ぶよう声をかけてください。里山なので夕方は虫が増えます。虫よけを持っていくと安心です。

Tips

The park is closed on Wednesdays. Always check the day of the week before you set out. Places to buy food inside the park are limited, so bringing bento boxes and drinks is the safe choice. These are wooded hills, so there are mosquitoes and horseflies. Applying insect repellent before you sit down makes the time much more pleasant. As a rule, please take your rubbish home.
