Hiroshima Gate Park Mist Fountain

About this spot

The Hiroshima Gate Park Mist Fountain is a water-play spot at Hiroshima Gate Park, created on the site of the former Hiroshima Municipal Baseball Stadium. In front of the landmark Great Roof Plaza, mist is set to spray up at regular intervals, giving you the strange experience of being wrapped in fog right in the middle of the city. There is no pool-like depth, so even children who have just started walking can join in, and those who are afraid of water can get used to it little by little from the outside. A playground that makes use of the rolling ground is also on site, so the way to enjoy this park is to move back and forth between the water and the play equipment for a long stretch of time. Its location in the central Kamiyacho / Hatchobori area, easy to reach by streetcar or bus, is another big advantage. Admission is free, so you can drop by on a whim any day.

Tips

The operating period for 2026 has not been announced. Check the official website for current status before you set out. Part of the plaza may be unavailable when events are held. Wet pavement is slippery, so remind children not to run. In case there is no dedicated changing room, wearing swimsuits under clothing makes things smoother. There is little to block the sun in the city center, so using the space under the great roof as your rest base is more comfortable. Bringing slightly more towels and changes of clothes than the number of people is reassuring.

Best time to visit

About 2 hours. After 3 p.m., when the sun sinks lower, the light softens and the mist feels even more refreshing
