Mizube no Gakko Bubble Park Mikamo Jabu-Jabu Pond Plaza is a free water play area inside an 18-hectare riverside park along the Yoshino River. At 3,900 square meters within the 14,500-square-meter Waterside School Zone, it offers a sense of openness completely unlike the crowded water play spots of the city. It is filled with water and opened only a few days a year, so planning a trip around the opening dates becomes a summer pleasure in itself. The grounds also hold the Bamboo Grove and Study Garden Plaza (10,600 square meters), a Nature Observation Zone, a Bamboo Grove and Nature Zone, an Event Plaza Zone and a Sports Field Zone, so there is no shortage of places to play if the water loses its appeal. The shade of the bamboo grove is precious protection from the sun, so remember it as a rest spot for a more comfortable day. Playing within the scenery of the Yoshino River, ringed by mountains, is an experience city water play cannot offer.

In 2026 the opening periods are the weekends of Aug 1 (Sat) 7:00 to Aug 2 (Sun) 18:00, Aug 8 (Sat) to Aug 9 (Sun), Aug 15 (Sat) to Aug 16 (Sun) and Aug 22 (Sat) to Aug 23 (Sun), each running from 7:00 Saturday to 18:00 Sunday. It may be cancelled without notice in bad weather, so always check the forecast and local conditions before you set out. Admission is free. Note that the waterfront zone (riverside, canoeing and so on) is currently closed and is a separate area from the Jabu-Jabu Pond Plaza. The riverbed has little shade, so bringing a pop-up tent or a parasol is strongly recommended. Bring plenty to drink and wear footwear that will not slip off.

Best time to visit

About 2 hours 50 minutes. Saturdays open from 7:00 in the morning, so shifting to an early start is an effective way to avoid the heat
