This is the free water playground in Akatsukayama Park in Toyokawa City, the Toyokawa City Akatsukayama Park Water Plaza. It is open year-round on a fiscal-year basis (April 1 to March 31 of the following year), and in 2026 the fountains resumed on April 29 after water-saving measures for the Toyokawa Canal (豊川用水) were lifted. The roughly 300-square-meter shallow pool has a Line Fountain that shoots up in a single row and a Pyonpyon fountain that spouts one jet after another, and simply chasing the moving water is enough to keep children captivated. There are covered benches, so adults can take it easy in the shade while keeping watch, which is a real blessing. Combine it with Gyogyo Land, Ani Ani Maaru and Wakuwaku Park in the same park and the fun runs unbroken through the whole day. Admission is free, so a short stop works too.

Tips

The park is closed on Tuesdays, on the first weekday after a public holiday, and over the New Year period. The cleaning closure days are July 28, August 4, August 12, August 18 and August 25, so plan around those dates. The closing date for the season has not been announced, so if you visit from autumn onward, check the official website for that day's operating status. The ground is slippery, so water shoes will give you peace of mind. After playing in the water, rinse off thoroughly, and taking breaks in the shade between play will help prevent heatstroke.

Best time to visit

About 2 hours and 15 minutes. The afternoon, when the sunlight softens, is recommended, and leaving your belongings near a covered bench makes moving around easier
