About this spot

Located inside Akatsukayama Park, this facility mainly exhibits freshwater fish of the Toyokawa River system. Unlike a sea aquarium, the stars here are fish that live in the rivers and ponds close to home, so you can walk around chatting about whether they might be in the river near your house too. Many of the tanks are set at a height matched to a child's eye level, so even small children can peer in by themselves, which is a welcome touch. Being indoors, it also works well as a rest stop for avoiding the strongest sunlight. The same park has Ani Ani Maaru and Wakuwaku Park as well, so drop by if you have the time and energy.

Tips

Opening hours and closing days may differ from those of the park itself, so check the official website before you set out. It is a place to be quiet in, so a word beforehand about not running will put your mind at ease. The Water Plaza is just a short walk away, so you can move straight on to water play after your visit.
