About this spot

A field in the Tatta area of Aisai City where you can view lotus flowers. Aisai City is one of Japan's leading producers of lotus root, and from early summer through summer, large leaves spread across the flooded fields, with pale-colored flowers rising up among them. The leaves are as large as a child's height, which is surprising to see in person and looks completely different from photos. The flowers are open and at their most beautiful in the morning, and being able to walk around during the cooler hours is also a plus for families. This stop lets you see beforehand where the lotus root dish you'll eat for lunch that day was grown.

Tips

The best time to see the flowers varies by year, so it's worth checking the blooming status before your visit. Lotus flowers open in the morning and close by early afternoon, so an early visit is recommended. The paths between the paddies can get muddy, so wear shoes you don't mind getting dirty. There's little shade, so a hat and drinks are essential.
