About this spot

This is the core facility of Niigata Furusato Village (新潟ふるさと村) along National Route 8, an exhibition hall introducing Niigata Prefecture's seasons, history, and way of life. Everyday tools from snow-country life, scenes from local festivals, and more are gathered into a display that lets you survey the whole prefecture at a glance, and it can spark ideas for an elementary schooler's summer research project. The interior is air-conditioned, making it just the right place to pass a midsummer morning in comfort. Outside, flower fields spread out, and strolling among the seasonal blooms feels wonderful too. To save energy for the afternoon in the water, take it slow here in the morning.

宮のもり・木場城公園ジャブジャブ池は、新潟市西区の近隣公園にある無料の水遊び場です。開設期間は未発表で、例年は夏季に開かれています。浅い池なので小さな子どもでも安心して入れ、水を掛け合ったり座り込んだりと思い思いに遊べます。池のそばにはせせらぎ水路が流れ、水の道をたどって歩くだけでも子どもは夢中になります。近くのとんぼ池では生きものを探せ、体を乾かしたければわんぱく広場の滑り台やピクニック広場へ移動と、遊びの切り替えがしやすいのがこの公園の良さです。8,952平方メートルの敷地は歩いて回れる広さで、家族連れが1日を過ごすのにちょうどよいスケールです。

Tips

開設期間は未発表なので、出発前に新潟市の公式ページで当年の開設状況を必ず確認してください。天候や水の管理状況によって遊べない日があります。池の底は滑りやすいので、脱げにくいサンダルやマリンシューズを履かせると安全です。更衣室があるとは限らないため、上から羽織れるタオルや簡易ポンチョを用意しておくと着替えに困りません。日陰が限られるので、日よけになるものと飲み物は多めに持っていきましょう。

Tips

The parking lot is large and easy to use even with a family. Events are sometimes held inside during the summer holidays, so it is a good idea to check the day's schedule at the entrance. The outdoor flower fields have little shade, so early morning is the most comfortable time for a walk.
