This is the products hall of Niigata Furusato Village, where rice, sake, sweets, and pickles from every corner of the prefecture are gathered in one place. Simply walking along and looking at the shelves gives you a real sense of how large Niigata is and how many things it produces, and for children it is a living lesson about the region. There is also a food court inside, so each family member can pick what they feel like eating. Stock up on drinks and snacks here for the afternoon in the water. It is also practical to sit out the hottest hours around noon in an air-conditioned building.

宮のもり・木場城公園ジャブジャブ池は、新潟市西区の近隣公園にある無料の水遊び場です。開設期間は未発表で、例年は夏季に開かれています。浅い池なので小さな子どもでも安心して入れ、水を掛け合ったり座り込んだりと思い思いに遊べます。池のそばにはせせらぎ水路が流れ、水の道をたどって歩くだけでも子どもは夢中になります。近くのとんぼ池では生きものを探せ、体を乾かしたければわんぱく広場の滑り台やピクニック広場へ移動と、遊びの切り替えがしやすいのがこの公園の良さです。8,952平方メートルの敷地は歩いて回れる広さで、家族連れが1日を過ごすのにちょうどよいスケールです。

Tips

開設期間は未発表なので、出発前に新潟市の公式ページで当年の開設状況を必ず確認してください。天候や水の管理状況によって遊べない日があります。池の底は滑りやすいので、脱げにくいサンダルやマリンシューズを履かせると安全です。更衣室があるとは限らないため、上から羽織れるタオルや簡易ポンチョを用意しておくと着替えに困りません。日陰が限られるので、日よけになるものと飲み物は多めに持っていきましょう。

Tips

The food court gets crowded at lunchtime on weekends, so eating early, sometime after 11:00, keeps the wait short. Food left in the car will spoil, so a cooler bag is reassuring. Take the chance to check your towels and change of clothes for the water here before you set off.
