This museum lets you trace the path Sanjo has walked as a metalware town through actual tools. Beginning with the making of traditional Japanese nails in the Edo period and expanding to sickles, saws, kitchen knives and carpentry tools, the exhibits show how the shape of a tool directly reflects the work it was made for. A recreated forge lets you picture the workplace where iron was shaped with fire and hammer. Folk-life materials are displayed alongside, so you can connect the tools to daily living. Blades are a familiar subject even for children, and the visit becomes a chance to think about where the knife at home came from.

ミズベリング三条せせらぎ水路は、三条MIZBEステーションにある無料の水遊びスポットで、開設期間は未発表、例年は夏季です。三条市公式が「小さなお子様でも安心して水遊びが楽しめます」と明記している浅い水路なので、初めての水遊びの場としても向いています。同じ敷地には遊具、3on3バスケットコート、スケートボードパークがあり、水に飽きたら陸の遊びへ移れます。かまどベンチと炊事場ではバーベキューが無料で使えるため、食事まで含めて1日を組み立てることもできます。水防学習館が併設されており、川と暮らしの関係を学べるのもこの場所ならではです。そして何よりありがたいのがシャワー室があることで、遊び終わったあとに体を流してから帰れるため、車のシートを濡らす心配が減ります。

Tips

積雪等により使用できない日があるとされているので、出発前に三条市の公式ページで当日の状況を必ず確認してください。開設期間は未発表なので、事前確認は欠かせません。水路の底は滑りやすいので、脱げにくいサンダルやマリンシューズを履かせてください。シャワー室を使うなら、石けん類とサンダルを持参すると快適です。かまどベンチや炊事場を使う場合は、利用ルールを現地の案内で確かめてから始めましょう。河川敷なので日陰が限られます。日よけになるものと飲み物は多めに用意してください。

Tips

The museum has closed days, so check the opening days and hours before you set out. Since the exhibits center on blades, it helps to remind small children in advance not to reach toward the cases. Sanjo Betsuin is within walking distance, so it is efficient to park once and explore the town center on foot.
