This shrine stands in the centre of Gosen City and has long been cherished by local people. The trees along the approach soften the sunlight, which makes it comfortable to walk even on a midsummer morning. Starting the day by joining your hands before the main hall and praying for a safe day brings the whole family into step. Seasonal flowers and trees grow in the precincts, and simply strolling while listening to the cicadas makes the summer air feel richer. It is not a lively place, but that very quiet makes the contrast with the afternoon water play stand out.

清流の里川瀬公園せせらぎの水路は、五泉市公式が「こどもの水遊びとして人気のスポット」と紹介している無料の水遊び場で、開設期間は未発表、例年は夏季です。市街地への清流の通水と豊富な地下水を利用した親水公園で、水がきれいなことがそのまま遊び場の魅力になっています。浅い水路なので小さな子どもでも歩いて入れ、流れをたどるだけで長いこと遊べます。鯉や魚が泳ぐ池があり、水面をのぞきこむ時間も子どもにとっては立派な遊びです。奥の森ではカワセミやトンボが見られるので、網とケースを持って生き物観察に出かけるのもおすすめ。水遊びと自然観察を同じ場所で続けられる、五泉ならではの公園です。

開設期間は未発表なので、出発前に五泉市の公式ページで当年の状況を必ず確認してください。地下水を使った水は真夏でも冷たく感じます。体が冷えたら早めに上がって、日なたで温めてから戻りましょう。鯉のいる池は水遊び用ではないので、遊ぶのは水路にとどめてください。水路の底は滑りやすいので、脱げにくいサンダルやマリンシューズが安全です。更衣室があるとは限らないため、上から羽織れるタオルや簡易ポンチョがあると着替えに困りません。森に入るなら虫よけを忘れずに。

This is a good chance to teach children shrine etiquette. Show them step by step, starting with how to use the purification basin. Much of the precinct is gravel path, so visit in shoes that are easy to walk in. Parking spaces are limited, so use a nearby car park during busy periods.
