This municipal art museum stands on the grounds of Fuchu-no-Mori Park. Because you can walk straight in from the park itself, it is a reliable refuge during the hottest hours of the day. Alongside the permanent collection there are special exhibitions, and hands-on programs for children are sometimes arranged. The building has the open feel you would expect of a museum in a park, offering a place both for adults who want a quiet moment and for children who are starting to get restless. It is just the right stop for conserving energy indoors before the afternoon water play.

府中の森公園じゃぶじゃぶ池は、府中市の府中の森公園にある無料の水遊び場です。2026年のシーズンは7/1(水)〜9/30(水)、時間は9:30〜16:00で、都内の水遊び場としては朝が早く、閉場も遅めなので一日の組み立てがしやすいのが特長です。池は浅く造られており、小さな子どもでも自分の足で歩き回れる深さなので、親も見守りやすくなっています。まわりは芝生と木立で、遊び疲れたらすぐ日陰で休めるのが助かるところ。料金は無料で、園内にはトイレもあります。同じ園内に府中市美術館があるため、天気が急に崩れても行き先を切り替えられる安心感があります。

Tips

休止日は7/13・7/23・8/4・8/17・8/28・9/8・9/18です。雨天時も休止になることがあるので、出発前に公式のお知らせで開設状況を確認してください。テントの設置はできません。日よけはレジャーシートと木陰で対応しましょう。着替えの場所は限られるため、水着を下に着ていくと現地での支度が短く済みます。

Tips

Admission differs between the permanent collection and special exhibitions, and varies with the content of each exhibition. Check the current exhibitions, admission fees and closing days on the official website in advance. Places to eat and drink inside the building are limited, so spreading out your bento on the park lawn is recommended. Strollers are allowed inside, but leaving one at the entrance when it is crowded makes moving around easier.
